Claire Eli is a movement, yoga and meditation teacher who loves to explore the world through the body.
Claire has been practicing yoga for over a decade and was brought to the mat after experiencing chronic anxiety. Coming from an athletic background, she was skeptical of the calm and sturdy pace of yoga. However it didn't take long for her to notice the effects of yoga beyond the mat and she was hooked.
Initially studying in Greece with the US based school SYI School Yoga Institute, she went on to train between Spain and London with Frog Lotus Yoga and has taken additional trainings in Forrest Yoga and Tantra with The International School of Temple Arts. In 2018 Claire completed the International Study program at Peridance Capezio Dance School in New York.
Her motivation and continuous inspiration comes from teaching students of all backgrounds, body types and abilities; believing that there is a place for everyone on both the yoga mat and the dance floor. She has taught in top studios throughout London, run community based classes, taken on corporate clients and international sports teams including the Harlequins rugby team in England.
After spending 5 years in London Claire went onto teach in health and spiritual retreat centres throughout Australia, Europe, South East Asia and Central America. She has partaken in S.N. Goenka Vipassana and has studied Buddhist mindfulness meditation techniques from teachers across India and Cambodia. Furthermore, she has gained valuable insight from working with shamanic practices and plant medicines in both the UK and Guatemala.
In 2017 Claire created Still Movement, a workshop series that combines movement, asana, self-awareness and meditation. Students can expect a dynamic practice with a strong emphasis on alignment. Both her yoga and movement classes incorporate teachings of yogic philosophy so that students start to understand yoga as being more than just asana postures. Claire’s careful use of cuing and intelligent sequencing, encourages students to reconnect with the wisdom of their own body and move from a place of inner strength, ease and curiosity.
Claire is currently based between New York, South East Asia and Europe.
